Orland Township Announces Resume Building Workshop
Purdue University Calumet professor, Casey Barczyk, is once again returning to Orland Township to host a resume building workshop on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue. The resume building workshop is free to Orland Township residents but registration is required.

The workshop will cover the following topics: how to build a resume that opens the door to an interview, the formula for an impressive cover letter, how scanning affects the appearance of a resume and how it is received, easily scanned resume formats, dos and donts in creating a resume and 16 skills that employers look for.

This past January, unemployment in the United States fell to 8.3% as employers added 243,000 jobs (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). This is the fifth straight monthly decline for unemployment. As job seekers come across more job openings, Orland Township Supervisor Paul O'Grady has decided to continue the resume building workshop so that residents can sharpen their skills and take advantage of the increased hiring.

"With more companies hiring, now is the time for residents to perfect their resumes," said O'Grady. "Professor Barczyk can help you create a polished and professional resume that highlights your skills and achievements. I would suggest taking advantage of this opportunity for instruction and using it to your benefit, especially at a time when there are more jobs to apply for."

In addition to resume building workshops, Dr. Barczyk has taught classes on human resources management and human resources planning, selection and placement, compensation management, training and development, and organizational management. He is also the author of several business journal articles.

To register for the workshop, please call (708) 403-4222 or for additional information on Orland Township programs and services, please visit www.orlandtwp.org or www.orlandtwpnews.org.

March 27 Interviewing Workshop at Orland Township
Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Avenue, is hosting an interviewing workshop on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Advanced registration is required.

The two-hour session will cover the following topics: the anatomy of an interview, five common types of interviews, tips for a behavioral interview, body image and language, answering difficult questions and assessing skills and traits using power adjectives.

This past January, companies in the United States were able to create 243,000 new jobs. With more job opportunities, Orland Township residents may find themselves attending more interviews than in recent times. To prepare for this possibility, Orland Township Supervisor, Paul O'Grady, is once again bringing back an expert to assist job seekers.

The workshop will be led by Purdue University Calumet professor, Dr. Casey Barczyk. Professor Barczyk has taught classes such as human resource management and human resource planning, selection and placement, adding to his knowledge of what hiring agents look for and want to see during the hiring process. He has also written articles in various business journals and has participated in conferences pertaining to human resources, hiring procedures and related subjects.

"Dr. Barczyk has hosted various workshops here at Orland Township over the past few years and we have received such positive feedback on his performance," said O'Grady. "He has helped out many local job seekers, many who have wanted to go a little further in their job search, in order to stand out to hiring agents."

To register for the workshop, please call (708) 403-4222 or for additional information on Orland Township programs and services, please visit www.orlandtwp.org or www.orlandtwpnews.org.
