LEGAL NOTICE

INVITATION TO BID

Sealed Bids for "2012 ROOF WORK" at John A. Bannes School, 16835 S. Odell Ave, Tinley Park, Cook
County, Illinois, will be received by the Board of Education at the Administration Building, 16931 S. Grissom Drive, Tinley Park, Illinois 60477 until 11:30 a.m. on the 8th day of March, 2012. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the above stated time and place. 

The work is to be performed in accordance with the proposed Contract Documents as prepared by Roof Consultants, Inc. (708-846-4410) Attention: Al Kravitz. These proposed Contract Documents may be obtained electronically by request to the Project Manager prior to the mandatory Pre-Bid meeting.

The mandatory Pre-Bid meeting will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 20th, 2012 at John A. Bannes School, 16835 S. Odell Ave, Tinley Park, Illinois. Interested bidders are required to attend.

Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Guarantee in the form of a Bid Bond from a company with an AVII best rating, Certified Check or Bank Draft in the amount equal to not less than Ten Percent (10%) of the bid and made payable to the Board of Education, Kirby School District 140, Tinley Park, Illinois. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the bid opening date without the consent of the owner. Checks or drafts of unsuccessful bidders will be returned as soon as possible as practicable after opening and checking the bids.

Bids shall be submitted in an opaque sealed envelope clearly marked as SEALED BID and addressed to The Board of Education, Kirby School District 140, 16931 S. Grissom Drive, Tinley Park, Illinois.

The scope of work includes Removal and Replacement of the existing roofing, flashings and sheet metal trim on three sections of the building approximately 13,900 s.f. in size. Included in this contract is a small 400 s.f. shingle roof and installation of roof curbs, double portals and flashings on an existing Firestone EPDM roof. Work on the existing EPDM roof must be completed by a Firestone approved contractor to maintain the Firestone Warranty.

Contractor must have experience in application of EPDM roof systems, have own equipment for the installation and have written authorization from the material manufacturer to install this system. Contractor must comply with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act and is required to submit a certified payroll of all employees working on any phase of the project.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in bidding.
